How to Help Yourself out of Depression
1. Learn to appreciate things. What is unique and beautiful about your home, your town, your church, and your situation?
2. Spend quality time with your family. Doing things to show you care for your family will only improve your days. Do something productive each and every day even if it is only for one family member. If you are not close enough to spend time with some of your family, spend time sending them a note and make their day special.
3. Set goals. Break them up into small pieces and accomplish a little bit every day. Clean out one drawer or even a closet. You don’t have to tackle a whole Garage, but do something.
4. Accept what you cannot change: work on the changing the things in your life that you can do something about. There's no use crying over spilled milk. Being flexible in life makes for a lot less stress and hardship. Learn to forgive and forget.
5. Balance your lifestyle: work, friends, leisure, and exercise. Do thing that you enjoy.
6. Be friendly and talk to the people. If you are going to be somewhere for a while find someone to interact with. Every person has many interesting secrets and characteristics that are worth discovering. It may even give you a chance to invite them to your Church or even to Jesus Christ.
7. Participate in your Church. You don’t have to just sit there on the pew of do nothing. Surly you can do something for your church.
8. Realize that God is in Control and trust Him. There are many things we cannot change in life, but it will be a much more pleasant experience if you keep a positive attitude. Fake it until you make it. When you are having a bad day why not force a smile on your face; you may even end up smiling for real and will feel better for it. Trust me on this, those around you will feel better, too.
9. Working with what you’ve got, not with what you wish you had; Stop saying I wish and start saying I will.
10. Reach out to others that have a need. Yes you may have needs too. But try to make a real difference in the lives of others.
